The Global Alliance for Musculoskeletal Health of the Bone and Joint Decade is guided by an International Coordinating Council (ICC) of experts from various geographical regions and disciplines. The diversity of the ICC includes rheumatologists, researchers, orthopaedic surgeons, patient advocates, trauma specialists, rehabilitation, and emergency medicine specialists from across the globe. The countries they represent are Australia, Austria, Brazil, Canada, Germany, India, Japan, Kenya, Norway, South Africa, Sweden, United Kingdom, United States and Vietnam.

The ICC is advised on commercial matters by the Business Advisory Committee (BAC). The BAC is established to ensure that commercial opportunities aligned to the delivery of the 2010 – 2020 Strategic Action Plan are identified, and that the ICC is informed of the activities required to secure and manage such opportunities. The BAC membership comprises an executive of business leaders with experience in musculoskeletal health along with other representation to provider specific and defined expertise.

The strength of the Global Alliance for Musculoskeletal Health comes from its worldwide network. It is supported by more than a thousand national and international professional, scientific and patient organisations. National coordinators of the Global Alliance for Musculoskeletal Health are established in 96 countries, while National Alliances for Musculoskeletal Health are driving the agenda and goals of the Global Alliance in 61 countries.

The Bone and Joint Foundation is the European-based charitable foundation that supports the Global Alliance for Musculoskeletal Health. It is registered in Sweden and administered from Lund.
