Momentum in the Next Decade of Action for Musculoskeletal Health
The Bone and Joint Decade Global Network, initiated 10 years ago, this week returns to its place of origins – Lund, Sweden – to inaugurate the next 10 years of work in raising the priority of Musculoskeletal Health and improving standards of care for all patients around the world.
Prof Lars Lidgren, Chairman of the Bone and Joint Decade, and Head of the Dept of Orthopaedics, University of Lund, said: “Much has been accomplished but much remains to be done. Musculoskeletal Conditions (MSC) are not going to disappear. In a number of countries MSC has gained public and political priority, and it is slowly moving up on the agenda in regional and global organisations such as the US NIH, EU, UN, WHO, but bone and joint disorders still lacks the attention it deserves as the leading cause of pain and disability worldwide.
For this reason, 130 representatives including government officials, doctors, researchers, NGO’s and patients from nearly 40 countries around the world have come together to map out the Plan For Action in Bone & Joint Health for the coming Decade at the BJD’s Global Network Conference in Lund Sept 10-11.
"Moving Together for Musculoskeletal Health" is the motto of the BJD 2010 World Network Conference, which show how cooperation over the last decade has brought immense progress, and charter what remains to be done in the coming years. Please click here to read more.
